We are
the Blue Knights of Maryland Chapter VIII, centered in Montgomery
County, Maryland. While we meet in Montgomery County and our
scheduled rides normally leave from the Montgomery County Police
Academy, we currently have active and retired members who represent
the following law enforcement agencies: Montgomery County Police
Department, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, Maryland Park
Police, United States Park Police, Metropolitan Police Department
(DC), Prince George's County Police Department, United States Army
Military Police, United States Department of State, United States
Coast Guard, Department of Defense Criminal Investigations Division,
Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission Police, Supreme Court
Police, Department of Homeland Security/Federal Air Marshals, and
the University of Maryland Police Department.
Our common goal is to encourage our members to ride their
motorcycles together as much as possible in a safe and responsible
manner, representing the "Good Guys" of motorcycling while meeting
and getting to know the men and women of multiple law enforcement
agencies. Our current activities include monthly rides, regular
meetings, social events, acting as judging teams for police
motorcycle competitions, riding as a group in the yearly Law Ride
and Police Week activities in Washington, DC, and taking part in
motorcycle related charity fund raising events.
We currently hold a scheduled ride at least once a month
during the riding season. In warm weather, we meet at 9:00 am;
during the early spring and late fall months we meet at 11:00 am. We
now meet at the 7-11 in Laytonsville.
If you are a sworn active or retired law enforcement officer
with (or who, before retirement) had arrest powers, we invite you to
explore the possibility of joining our chapter. In the Blue Knights
we have a saying, "There are no strangers, only friends we haven't
met yet". Please contact any of the chapter's officers listed on our
home page by simply clicking next to their name and sending us an
email. Thank you and Ride Safe!
